Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Do not take this medicine within 1 hour before or 2 hours after aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids. Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and light.
To clear up your infection completely, continue taking this medicine for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. Taking this medicine at the same time each day will make it easier to remember. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Cautions
If your symptoms do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. If you experience difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. For women taking birth control pills: this medicine may decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pill. To prevent pregnancy, you may want to use an additional form of birth control. Possible side effects

Use of Zithromax for prolonged or repeated periods may result in oral thrush or a vaginal yeast infection. Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms. A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if any of these symptoms occur: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
